What the Dreadnought Unlocks

The Dreadnought is the apex ship in Pax Autocratica. Unlocking it dramatically raises your troop capacity, letting you field larger squads on high-difficulty expeditions and tackle Sector Overlords — including the CyberKong boss — on far better terms.

Unlock Requirements

The Dreadnought sits at the top of the ship research tree. To reach it you need:

  1. Full base-tier ship research — the foundational capacity upgrades.
  2. Tier-2 hull and reactor research — unlocks the Dreadnought's chassis.
  3. Sufficient CredChips and industrial materials — the build itself is expensive.
  4. A stable colony — attempting the build during a loyalty crisis is how runs die.

Prioritize capacity upgrades over cosmetic ship research. Bigger squads beat shinier ships.

Maximizing Troop Capacity

Troop capacity comes from three stacked sources:

SourceHow to Increase
Ship tierResearch the next ship up
Hull modsEquip capacity-focused modifications
PoliciesPass conscription-style laws (Fear path)

Stack all three to field the maximum squad size for a given expedition tier.

Preparing for the CyberKong Boss

CyberKong is a Sector Overlord that floods the battlefield with projectiles, drones, and overlapping patterns. Preparation:

  • Medic + Second Chance are mandatory, not optional.
  • Bring a full squad — solo attempts get swarmed.
  • Focus-fire adds — spawned drones will overwhelm you if ignored.
  • Respect the dash — the dash iframe window is your primary survival tool against the bullet patterns.
  • Stockpile ammo — the fight is long; running dry mid-fight is a common death.

Elite Soldiers for the Endgame

For Overlord-tier fights, recruit elite-tier soldiers. Elite and Boss enemies captured during earlier expeditions keep their affixes, making them materially stronger than standard recruits. Prioritize capturing elites with damage or resilience affixes specifically to build a boss-kill squad.

After the Dreadnought

Once unlocked, the Dreadnought unlocks the deepest expeditions and the third/fourth sectors planned for the full release roadmap. From here, the challenge is no longer capacity — it's loadout synergy and squad coordination.
