Pax Autocratica Combat Guide: FPS Expeditions, Bosses & Dash Mechanics
Expedition prep, squad commands, dash iframes, boss patterns, and ammo management for every run.
Expedition Combat Overview
Combat in Pax Autocratica escalates from desperate skirmishes on hostile ships to large-scale mechanized battlefields of infantry, tanks, and mechs. The Sector Overlords flood the screen with bullets, lasers, missiles, and overlapping patterns. Surviving is a system, not a reflex check.
Pre-Expedition Prep
- Squad selection — bring a balanced squad: medic, damage, tank, capture specialist.
- Loadout — match your weapon to your Core Fragments; synergy beats raw tier.
- Capture Rounds — stocked for high-value targets.
- Ammo — Stock Mode on ammunition production before departure.
- Base secured — enough food and workers to survive your absence.
The Dash Mechanic
The dash is your primary survival tool. It has a brief iframe window that lets you phase through projectiles. Mastering dash timing against bullet-hell patterns is the single biggest combat skill in the game.
Don't dash into open space — dash through patterns to a safe pocket. Positioning after the dash matters as much as the dodge itself.
Squad Commands
You are not a lone wolf. Use commands to control the battlefield:
- Movement orders — position the squad to hold a lane.
- Follow — keep the squad close during bullet-hell phases.
- Focus fire — concentrate damage on priority targets and adds.
- Shield — convert expendable troops into shields when you're about to be downed.
Boss Patterns
Sector Overlords share a structure: a main attack pattern, an add-spawn phase, and a rage phase. The flow:
| Phase | Threat | Response |
|---|---|---|
| Main pattern | Bullet walls, lasers | Dash through to safe pockets |
| Add spawn | Drones overwhelm | Focus-fire adds immediately |
| Rage phase | Pattern speed doubles | Fall back, use shields, preserve ammo |
Ammo and Time Management
Long expeditions drain ammo. Don't mag-dump on trash mobs — use efficient weapons for adds and save high-damage weapons for priority targets. If the timer is running low, retreat; aborting loses nothing.
The Run Is the Build
Each run's Core loadout defines your playstyle: precision operator, chaos engine, or commander who burns soldiers to survive. Read the Cores you collect and adapt — don't force a fixed strategy onto a randomly-generated build.
